The Ialysos beach is found on the west coast of the Rhodes island and is one of the closest beaches to the city of Rhodes. The beach is located just about 7-8 kms away from the main city and thus has a major settlement of big hotel complexes that run just along the sandy beach. As compared to the Faliraki beach, the Ialysos is even closer and can be reached within a maximum of about 20 minutes from the main city. If sandy beaches is a preferable location, then Ialysos has a lot of accommodation offers that can be just right for any travel budget.
After the Faliraki, the Ialysos is also considered to be one of the better organized beaches on the island. There are lots of relaxation options on the beaches, besides the lush gardens and swimming pools which are along the beach premises. Then there are even better amenities provided by the many multi-storey hotels that offer tennis courts and other facilities that can lure the tourists for a stay. The beach is very long but is divided into segments, these segments are created since many of the hotels own certain areas and have created a private beach with access only allowed to their respective guests. Therefore access to the public in general, is only restricted to the parts where the beach is not owned by a hotel. Other than that, the beach is a real attraction for deep water swimmers and for surfers who will love the waves created and the heavy cross wind that the beach offers. While on a vacation, there is no need to carry your own swimming or surfing equipment, there is plenty available on hire basis. This beach is called the Capital of WindSurfing in all of Rhodes, this is pretty much the truth since this beach has also been the host to the world championship competition of the sport in 2007.
Other than the entertainment and the staying facilities, there are a lot of options for other things to do at the Ialysos beach. There are coffee shops, local cuisine eateries, stalls serving fast food, restaurants, bars for a good drink along the beach and many more things which are located not too far away from the main beach area.
